Chester Village has a character that reflects the community’s history. Character-defining features most often include:

  • The external architecture of buildings;
  • The historical or cultural importance of buildings and places;
  • Views and streetscapes; and
  • Site features, such as trees, hedges, landscaping, walls and fences.

The Study will inform the review of Chester Village Planning documents, including the Land Use Bylaw, which contains regulations that apply to new developments and building renovations.

We also be holding community engagement events in the spring. Please check back for more information and details.

Character is understood in terms of:

    • Site Design and Context;
